Kathy Roberts-Douglass was born in Lubbock, Texas and attended
high school in Anton, Texas. Kathy attended Texas Tech
University. She majored in speech communication and
subsequently began her professional career at Texas Tech
University Health Sciences Center in 1980. Kathy was employed
by the Department of Neuropsychiatry and Managed Health Care as
a psychiatric administrator responsible for the development of
academic and clinical programs for 19 years.
In 1999, the Texas Maritime Museum board of trustees interviewed
Kathy for the executive director's position. She began her new
career, November 1, 1999. Since coming on board, the museum has
attained a full staff, accreditation through the American
Association of Museums, the addition and completion of the
Lighthouse project, and an award winning cookbook, 'The Texas
Marithyme Treasures".
