Melanie Grabowske

Executive Assistant

Melanie Grabowske is the new Executive Assistant at the Texas Maritime Museum.

I have worked for the State of Texas for over 30 years, starting my administrative career at the Highway Department (TXDOT) my senior year as a Vocational Office Education student at McCallum High School.  I have enjoyed my time at all the various State departments, but especially, Texas Parks & Wildlife (1990 – 1995) where my Father, Jim Grabowske, retired.  I loved working in Marketing and Law Enforcement.  I also worked at the State Preservation Board in the beginning of years (1985 – 1989) with the restoration of the Capitol.    Working with the Texas Senate (1995 - 2003), in Bill Distribution, was a great learning experience about the legislative process.   I came from the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum (2007 – 2011) and will retire this month from the State.

I have been a weekender to the Rockport area all my life.  My Father was born in Rockport, and my grandparents retired in the 70’s.   Their home is where I live now and enjoy the wildlife of Copano Bay.   The Big Tree, the State Fishing Pier, the Fulton Mansion, floundering, main street Rockport and the Maritime Museum has been in my family history since I was an infant.   I feel very blessed, going to work every day in my new but familiar home town.  I always knew I would retire here but never dreamed I would get to work and have such a wonderful working life here on a day-to-day basis.
